Question:  What are the best health and fitness franchises? - [Submit An Answer]

Health and Fitness Franchise Overview

Health and fitness franchise opportunities are actually one of the largest opportunities out there (right behind the food market, in fact!). Everyone knows that health is vitally important and the demand for a place to go (the right place to go, actually) is what makes all of the difference. There are a number of different things that you should consider about the health and fitness franchise opportunities that you find though. Not all of them are the same, with the same potential and the same ability to allow you to excel in the field. Then, too, there are many types of these franchises to consider.

To get started, consider the various types of health and fitness franchises available. You can consider the health club franchise environment which can be geared towards men and women, just men or just women. Or, go the age bracket route with a franchise geared towards specific ages ranging anywhere from preschoolers learning to stay fit to centers designed for older adults. Health food franchise opportunities are everywhere and have become a chic trend. Specialization is also available with such things as karate franchises to tap into. Virtually any aspect of health and wellness is and has been franchised and that allows you plenty of choices.

The Small Business Administration recommends that before you select any franchise opportunity that you really research them. Find out who they are and what they have to offer to you. Find out where they have been and where they are likely to go. It is a good idea to find out if you have exclusive rights to a particular market or if somebody else can open a store in the same area.

Here are just a couple of options that you may actually have to consider. By all means do not select these just because they are mentioned here but just as examples to help you to get started.

  • Consider a franchise for 24 hr fitness gyms, such as Anytime Fitness or Your Time Fitness.
  • Some children's fitness franchises include The Little Gym which is one of the largest and fastest growing opportunities. J.W. Tumbles and Jump ‘n Play Gym are other options here.
  • Club 50 fitness centers and Adult Day Services Inc cater to older adults looking to get in shape physically and/or mentally.
  • For women specialty gyms consider Curves, Lady of America and Fit For Her!
  • Health food franchise options are in abundance but here's a start with GNC, Smoothie King and Booster Juice.

Other fast growing health and fitness franchise opportunities include Gold's Gym, Inches A Weigh, 1 2 3 Fit and IM=X Pilates just to name a few. But, before you decide on which is the right one for you, take the time to really explore the possibilities. Find out what is out there as well as what they have to offer in the way of start up costs, franchise fees, training and advertising. Each opportunity must be explored to be the right one for you to invest in.
